Clean ears are a very important part of your Pomeranian’s health. The ears of your Pomeranian can be great place for bacteria and yeast to breed, resulting in the infection of the ears. This is why regular cleaning of the ears is essential. A good cleaning schedule would be about every two weeks. To accomplish this, you will need the following which can be found at most local pharmacies:
- One Pair of Hemostats
- A mixture of 50% Vinegar and 50% water (Hydrogen Peroxide can be substituted for the vinegar).
- Cotton balls (Do not use “Q” tips).
- One eye dropper
Shower affection on your Pomeranian so he/she will associate the process with pleasure. Place a small amount of the solution in the ear using the eye dropper and massage the base of the ear. Your dog will likely want to do an ear shake. This is good because it may also loosen any debris in the ears. Once the ear shake is done, lock a cotton ball in the hemostat. Use the hemostat to wipe out the wax in the ear cleaning from the inside out until no more wax is visible on the cotton ball. Once the process is complete again, shower affection on your Bichon Frise so that the process will be easier next time. Regular care of your Pomeranian will ensure a happy pet.
